WASHINGTON (AP) — A former Trump campaign aide appeared for hours before a federal grand jury Friday, after he defiantly insisted in a series of news interviews just days earlier that he intended to defy a subpoena in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.
On Thursday, President Donald Trump shocked the world by agreeing to meet Kim Jong-Un in person in Pyongyang, in what would be the first ever face-to-face meeting between a U.S. president and a North Korean leader. It is certainly possible the White House is correct.
Former drug company executive Martin Shkreli , better known as Pharma Bro, was sentenced on Friday to seven years in prison for defrauding investors of two hedge funds he ran. Jane Lanhee Lee reports.
Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally this weekend in Pennsylvania, just days before a special congressional election in the Pittsburgh area. The race is being widely watched to see if it’s another sign that Democrats may sweep the midterm elections in November. The rally will take place at 7pm in Moon Township, about 12 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
Donald Trump will make his Latin America debut next month, visiting Peru and Colombia after harsh rhetoric towards Hispanic migrants and neighbors to the south. Trump will travel to Peru to attend the Summit of the Americas in Lima on April 13-14, a gathering of leaders from across the Western Hemisphere. From there he will visit Colombia, White House officials told AFP.
“IF Trump can denuclearize North Korea then that would definitely be winning!” “Not a Trump supporter at all but I give credit when due and this is great news.” Trump’s announcement that he plans to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is drawing an overwhelmingly positive reaction on Newsroom — across party lines.
President Trump has accepted Kim Jong Un’s invitation to meet sometime between now and May. Thursday evening, Trump tweeted: "Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time. Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!"
The story has generated thousands of comments, with most readers cheering Trump: “I’m an independent and I applaud any success we have as a nation.” “This could really be a game changer.”
If, and when, the meeting happens, Trump would be the first sitting president to speak with a North Korean leader.
